Utilizing Google Alerts To Protect Your Identity

Protecting you identity is a must in the current day and age. You don’t know what could happen with the way technology is so you need to do whatever you can to protect your identity and keep up to date. This is why Google Alerts is a godsend and everyone who wants to properly protect their identity should use it.

Why use Google Alerts instead of another service? Google itself is the largest search engine in the world and the most commonly used by just about anyone. No competitor comes even close to the size and user base that Google holds. This means that if if someone is going to use your name and your information and search it online, chances are pretty high that they are just going to “Google it” like most other users out there.

Signing up for Google Alerts gives you a prompt heads up on any information that you sign up for. If someone were to search you on Google, you would be notified quickly of it and would be able to keep track of any strange things that people are searching about you.

It is recommended that you set Google Alerts to notify you of any searching on any of the following:

Your First and Last name
Your Home or Cellphone number
Your Children’s names
Your home address
Your Email address
Your Credit Card
Your Social Security number
Your Bank Account Number

If someone is trying to steal your identity of your information, they will most likely start to look up any and all information that they can about you in order to steal your information.

If that happens then Google will alert you shortly after and allow you to know if someone is trying to steal your information. If you detect an increased amount of traffic in terms of searches on you, it should be looked into.

In short, Google Alerts is by far the greatest way to help protect your identity in this age of technology.
