IIC Founders

The IIC was founded by a group of visionary leaders who were intrigued by the intellectual challenge, business value and social impact of Information Integrity.

Madhavan Nayar proposed the concept of Information Integrity as a potential new discipline and industry. He met Vijay Mandke in 1994, and since then they have collaborated doing research about Information Integrity and shared their results through publications and at conferences in North America, Europe and Asia. During this time they had the opportunity to explore the subject with many leaders in academia, industry and government.

One of those leaders includes Dharam Punwani, a successful entrepreneur. Dharam had played key roles in the formation and success of other professional associations. He quickly recognized the enormous scope of Information Integrity and the need for an organization to champion it. The core group of committed volunteers gradually expanded as Martin Bariff, a professor, Michele Fitzpatrick, a journalist and Pam Walter, an attorney, signed up to help.

The IIC is the result of innumerable discussions among these individuals and the ideas and inputs from many others.
